Nabire — The big mission of Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa, SH and Deputy Governor Deinas Geley, S.Sos, M.Si to improve the quality of education and student achievement in the Central Papua region has become increasingly real. Starting from the opening of the Mepa Boarding School in Nabire, the cost of a number of students leaving Papua and now officially the number one person in Central Papua has launched and started the All Day School (SSH) program which is centered at SD Inpres Nifasi, Makimi district, Nabire district on Friday, (14/11/2025).

"The All Day School (SSH) Program in Central Papua is an education system that requires students to be at school from morning to evening, not only for academic learning but also for character development, creativity and skills," said Governor Meki Nawipa before the launch.

This program also aims to improve the quality of education, especially in 3T areas, through additional activities such as providing nutritious food and developing interests and talents in the arts, sports and other fields.

According to Nawipa, elementary, middle and high school education units are legally located at the district level, not at the provincial level. However, for the sake of the future of the next generation, he intervened in this program so that in the future the children of Central Papua could also become masters of their own country.

"By regulation, elementary, middle and high school belong to the regent, not the governor, but we have to intervene because the future generation of Central Papua is more important than being regent or governor. Because these positions are in the future they will inherit in the future," he said.

With the launch of the program, continued the former Regent of Paniai, he felt proud and even expressed his thanks to the University of Papua (Unipa) Manokwari campus which had collaborated with him in managing the program.

"Today I feel proud that we will launch and start an all-day school education program. Thank you very much to the UNIPA Campus for collaborating with the Central Papua Provincial Government," he said.

"In eight districts throughout Central Papua there are already 10 schools that will be the driving force for SSH, in Nabire there are two, Paniai, Dogiyai, Deiyai, Intan Jaya, Puncak, Puncak Jaya and Mimika which are directly handled by the Governor of Central Papua," said Nawipa.

He emphasized that the SSH program does not mean that the UNIPA campus will take over the school, but that teachers will continue to teach at the school until 12 noon. Next, we will continue with SSH because the program is only extracurricular.

"The Heads of the Education Department in the eight districts will continue to control the schools that will be used as SSH centers, because SSH is only extracurricular or additional. So don't let people think that the new school SSH system is not running because the behavior of the teachers or the principals is causing problems. So SSH is to feed school children so they can live well and study well. Schools are still running, after 12 noon SSH will be handled by the UNIPA campus. We need to socialize this aspect so that we don't understand," he said.

According to the first Governor in Central Papua, education is the main pillar of development in Central Papua, not just here but throughout the world. After SSH, he continued, his party will build dormitory-style schools in eight districts.

"Next year we will build boarding-style schools in every district capital in eight districts in Central Papua province. SSH is running, boarding-style schools are also running, our job is to lay the educational foundation for Central Papua's next generation through quality education programs," he said firmly.

SSH, he said, is a long-term investment in Central Papua. For this reason, he invited parents who will cook for school children to be part of the local church congregation, which can become a center for new economic development in the family and church.

"So the people here grow vegetables, raise chickens, raise fish so that the money from SSH cannot leave the village of Nifasi. The same is true in other districts that will be used as a place for SSH. So the school runs, the economy moves, the school children are also healthy and smart," he said.

"Schools as technical implementers, teachers as the driving force of learning, parents as strategic partners in mentoring and the community as constructive social supervision. Let's work together so that we can realize this noble ideal to see that tomorrow must be better than today through the success of our children in the future," he said. (*)
